Cansu Gorgun holds both a BSc (Biochemistry Department) and MSc (Institution of Health Science) from Ege University in Izmir, Turkey. Following her MSc, Dr Gorgun took up a Research Fellow position at the Department of Bioengineering at Ege University, looking at the neuro-regenerative effects of a variety of materials with a view to assessing their effects in vivo and in vitro Parkinson's Disease models.
Dr Gorgun completed her doctoral studies in biotechnologies in translational medicine at the University of Genova in Italy. This research was carried out as part of the CarBon MSCA Innovative Training Network.
Within the ADMIRE Fellowship Programme, Dr Gorgun joined the group of Professor Annie Curtis at the Royal College of Surgeons. Her project examined an immuno-engineered scaffold to maximise the regenerative potential of biomaterials and enhance bone repair.
Dr Gorgun only remained within the ADMIRE Programme for three months, before taking up another Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action position on her own Post Doctoral Fellowship.
