Ayan Haldar holds an Honours Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science and an MSc in Computational Mechanics, jointly, from University of Stuttgart and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, which included a research component at the Computational Structural Mechanics Laboratory of the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge.
Following his PhD studies at the faculty of Civil Engineering at Leibniz University in Hannover, Dr Haldar worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Engineering in the University of Cardiff, before taking up a position as Postdoctoral Researcher at ENSTA in France.
Dr Haldar joined the group of Professor Paul Weaver at the Bernal Institute at the University of Limerick as part of the ADMIRE Fellowship Programme. Whin his Fellowship, Dr Haldar examined how an understanding of origami could be employed to allow for the smooth folding of engineering structures.
